As Storm CiarƔn develops and gradually moves northeastward on Wednesday night and Thursday, strong southwesterly winds, persistent heavy rain and occasionally thundery showers will continue its northward advance. There is a very high chance of substantial rainfall accumulation in certain areas, particularly over elevated terrain, which will bring a risk of flooding in places. Southern parts of England, as well as parts of Wales, are expected to experience 25-35 mm of rain within 24 hours in lower-lying areas. The most severe conditions are anticipated in elevated areas of Snowdonia and the Moors, where 50-70 mm of rain is possible within 24 hours.
