As storm Babet develops and gradually moves northward on Friday, strong southeasterly winds and persistent heavy rain will continue its northward advance. There is a very high chance of substantial rainfall accumulation in certain areas, particularly over elevated terrain, which will bring a risk flooding in places. Northern and Eastern parts of England, as well as northern parts of Wales are expected to experience 25-35 mm of rain within 24 hours in lower-lying areas, potentially reaching 50-60 mm within 24 hours in the amber warning. The most severe conditions are anticipated in elevated areas of Yorkshire and the Pennines , where 70-90 mm of rain is possible within 24 hours.
