A low pressure associated with Storm Gerrit is expected to move northeastwards across Ireland and Northern England overnight. Potential damaging winds might develop along the southern flank of this area of low pressure. Parts of Midlands and Northeast England are likely to experience very strong southwesterly winds, where is likely to reach 45-55 mph across inland, and possibly 55-65 mph locally. The wind will gradually ease through Thursday morning.
